17 Nov — The CBSA International 9-Ball Open 2018 Grand Final had an early start on the day at 9:00 am, but still attracted a huge crowd of fans to witness the veterans from China and Taiwan competing for the ultimate title.

The first semifinal saw multiple champions Vincent Yang Ching-Shun (Taiwan) up against the double world champion Wu Chia-Ching (now China).  It was a close match all the way between the two, and it all came down to a decisive double-hill rack.  It was Wu who proved his abilities in the decider, edging his opponent with a marginal 11-10 win to snatched the hot seat.

The other hot seat was then taken by Liu Ri-Teng, who made it all the way to the final from the qualifier in Taiwan.

Liu lead the early stage of the final match and was at one stage leading 8-4 against Wu.  Liu made numerous errors in the following rack, allowing Wu to come back winning 7 in a row to make it 11-8 in his favour.  In rack 20, Liu grabbed an opportunity to make 2 back, but it was too late and Wu went on to win the game and the title with a final score of 13-10!

“No matter being 4, 5, or 6 racks behind, I just wait for one chance to come.  Once it is here, I can make a come back and then the pressure will be on the shoulders of my opponent.”  Said the relaxed champion during the post-match interview.  “About this tournament, I managed myself to stay calm and stable most of the time, and my breaks got better and better.”

in In the playoff,  the 2016 World Junior Champion Kong DeJing (China) took down Yang with a final score of 11-6.
